Or “You Don’t Need to Play Video Games”. I enjoy playing video games but I recognize them for what they are: a luxury past-time that is not necessary for life and one that would probably leave most of us better off if they all disappeared t

This homogenization is merely a continuation of a trend since the beginning of human history. Tribes homogenize into villages, villages into cities, cities into states, states into nations, and now we’re witnessing nations beginning to homo

An exercise like this sounds like it would be a rounding error in any country's national security or intelligence budgets. And now with AI you could probably automate the initial screening of devices for promising candidates for furthe

I haven’t seen the Gmail web UI in perhaps 15 years or so. I’ve been using it with various email clients and it works just fine. The issues the author describes are issues with Gmail’s web interface, not with the email service itself.

The AI part does seem relevant because it enabled incredibly low-effort “social” engineering. For what it’s worth I don’t think you can call this social engineering since there was no human on the other end, even though it appears similar.

Interesting but I fail to see how that’s relevant to a discussion about man made weapons.

That’s different. This is a suggestion. If the LLM follows such suggestions then that’s between the LLM and whoever deployed it. Not really any different than if you had an idiot employee who did whatever anyone told them. I can’t imagine u

How do you “trick” a CPU? Malware deceives people, not a CPU.

Often when you see a vague reference like that it’s typically because the donor requested anonymity. It’s more common with individual donors though. Sometimes anonymity is a condition of the gift.

It will be interesting (and scary) to see weapons technology developed in near real time for the conflict that is actually happening, as opposed to the one you thought would happen 15 years ago.

People have regularly done things in the past that they can no longer do in the present. I don’t know what they were like in the past but a blog post like this would concern me if I was hiring.

Likely true, and I’m sure many companies go unpunished despite engaging in it, but that doesn’t make it a good idea, and probably the kind of thing that could ruin a small business if they did get caught up in it.
