I wouldn't say the re-use is specifically for iOS apps, but in general, you're right.

Nothing is a solved problem. HipChat's a great product, and in my opinion the current market leader, but there are always ways to innovate and disrupt. (That being said, using IRC probably isn't it.)

I never quite got Convore. Grove is sort of interesting, but I doubt it'll displace us from HipChat. The major advantage of using a non-proprietary protocol like IRC is that people can choose their own clients... but the state of most IRC c

That assumes, of course, that the viewmodel used to render the server-side view is identical to the model you'd return serialized into JSON. That's mostly true, but not always.

Uh, SOPA wasn't a child porn law. It was a copyright enforcement law. By definition it didn't cover anything regarding illegal pornography, because illegal things aren't subject to copyright.

If you replaced all taxes with a simple sales tax, it'd be even more regressive, since a gallon of milk (for example) has a higher relative cost to someone who makes $20,000 than someone who makes $2,000,000. Also, it could have an unintent

(OP here.) I have a follow-up post in the works about minimization. I think that one of the major stresses in my life comes from waste. My wife and I have always been pretty minimal in the things that we choose to buy, but after we sold our

You're right. We just didn't want to spend the time planning a vacation (which had previously been a blocker to us actually going)... so we went to an all-inclusive resort that we could just push a button and book it.

I read it as the popular internet phrase ("you fail at X") rather than an attack, so I didn't take it personally. :) Even if it was intended as an attack, it's not the most offensive response I've received to the post by a long shot.

I find your comment rather offensive myself. You're trivializing the experience that I had because you know people who have had it worse. That's just ignorant. I'm sorry that your friends are having a hard time of it, but that doesn't mean

Facebook is in no way as vital to public order as the transportation system. Further, there's no way the government can force a private corporation to do anything, short of nationalizing it (and good luck there).

I hadn't heard this before, but I'm fairly certain that Bezos would promote the PM rather than fire them. Otherwise who in their right mind would take the job?

Sorry that that was your experience with AgileZen. Organizing work is a surprisingly difficult problem, and one for which we're very interested in providing a decent solution. I'd love to hear about your experiences and how we can do better

Google Docs is extremely frustrating. It has such potential, but it's such a hack-job, and Google doesn't seem particularly interested in making it less so. It certainly shows that the apps were acquired and patched together, because docume

I think your idea of throwing away a prototype is a great one. We essentially did that when we launched our startup, although it was just a major refactoring rather than a complete ditch-and-rebuild effort. Beyond that, oh man... Even if t

There's all sorts of problems with this. Usually startups don't have enough money to hire good developers, so they try to pay people in equity. Most developers who aren't personally invested in the idea or the founding team aren't going to
