I worked for the state of Florida and salaries were public. Did not really have an issue with that. Your salary falls within a bracket anyway so you won't be making more than another with similar experience and position.

Not completely true. Sure you can vote and do a few other things but other than that, under the law citizen's and people on US soil are the same. The constitution makes it clear. Basically if a non citizen gets arrested, he has the same rig

Yeah WebCL will be really useful at least for what I'm doing. I know they have a private list right now, hopefully they will open it up soon. One issue with WebCL is the device support. WebGL is capable of running of pretty much anything bu

Yeah I think it's important to remember that the guy is pretty busy, probably gets more than one of these kind of emails (probably on both sides) a week. Also some of the hardcore free software crowd is pretty radical and these are the kind

Yep and He also was a one man reverse engineering army during the lisp machine war. His programming skills are really good. His personality is another thing.

His status has been earned. RMS did incredible programming work in the 70s,80s that I think entitles him to make comments (even if they are wrong).

I've seen this demo before but had to watch it again. Alan Key's incredible. He invented the iPad before Star Trek did :) It also reminded me that I should really get on with learning smalltalk. Also Brian Harvey's full class is pretty good

Depends on the country and how much pull you have with law enforcement I guess. In a country like Russia with a pretty successful organized crime cartel I don't think it's impossible to pull off.

If this violates their ToS, they need to rethink their policies. There a ton of reason you might have an encrypted file in your dropbox. Like sharing it with a friend or holding it there because you are moving files around etc.

Like the money I made in a foreign country last year, the gov will ask you to convert it to USD and use that to file you taxes. Income is income in whatever denomination it's in.

So, is it possible that the system is starting to show cracks where it might no longer scale very well at 307 million people. Maybe giving more powers to states could potentially work. I don't know if I like that more or less.
