Voice Assistance was a thing long before Siri, and was arguably more useful because it was less smart, the keywords worked more predictably.

My current "favorite" bug is how contacts get randomly merged on iOS. I've called the wrong friend multiple times and it's completely unacceptable for such a basic and core function of iOS.

Apple has completely lost the high ground it earned during the OS X high times, paired with the relentless innovation of the iPod and iPhone. If they were smart they would focus on refinement in this era of gradual and boring innovation, so

I try not to succumb to this attitude. Humans are remarkably able to build systems and technology to solve complex problems. The fact that we aren't making the needed changes now fast enough doesn't rule out that we might as it be

Space is cool, and I support the scientific work some of its pioneers discover. But the category of people who believe space travel is somehow the solution to problems on Earth give me headaches.

Aside from async/await which I agree is somewhat janky syntaxtically, I'm curious what you consider to be janky. I think Rust is overall pretty nice to read and write. Patterns show up where you want them, type inference is somewh

I too wonder about this. I'd love to see someone build a simulated "fast decay" SSD which can show how various firmware actually behaves.

I've always been conflicted on them. I like that they allow me to be more explicit about things which are read from input or parsed out as strings vs internal parts of my program (I rarely call .to_sym), but I've also lost time to

I'll try to keep this in mind. This comment clearly is just frustration (which I believe to be warranted, but still unwelcome here) and I'm sorry for that. Other recent posts related to the Apple ecosystem I think don't fall

Oh I totally agree with you. The logic in my comment wasn't that you need to have written considerably amounts of code to be expecting this, just that to not be expecting this would make me think you hadn't. If that makes sense. O

Funny, another commenter on this post was saying the opposite, that Rust was likely being used to just port existing features and that was easier because there were probably good tests for it already. If you've actually written conside

They "work"... but instead of switching back from the alt screen and giving you your terminal back, they open a gimped little window within vim which makes it hard to navigate, copy, and search for things in the output.

Problem is video is expensive and compression can get bad. I agree being able to see the pointer is important, since not everyone is good about moving the cursor around.

I just have a few plugins which help. Mainly the LSP for gotodef and popovers for type info, etc. This was what finally made me transition to neovim. Also a tree viewer, Startify, and :Rg for ripgrep integration. Those are my big ones. Sadl
