It's a shame it failed and there are no real cheap netbooks anymore (aside from Chromebooks). I used an Acer Aspire One when travelling through Germany as a student (to research jobs and conferences) - and it was amazing being able to

It's well known that the CIA has spied on European industry to benefit their own (e.g. Boeing over Airbus) - https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-32542140 And on European leaders - https://www.reuters.

Also there a _lot_ of different cities and municipalities in Europe. And when it succeeds you don't usually hear about it. Like when I worked at an MPI in Germany, all the machines used Ubuntu. In Catalonia, most of the universities al

That's less of an issue though as it's a bit easier to migrate. If everything were already on Linux, then switching cloud providers is much simpler than switching the desktop systems themselves. Also from my own enterprise experie

I'd recommend Arch Linux for developers. It takes a little bit of set-up / learning at the start. But you can easily try it out with a tool like ALMA - https://github.com/r-darwish/alma See my preset files he

Especially in contrast to the current digital colonialism. US Big Tech companies pay almost no corporation taxes in the EU (and if they do, only in Ireland / Luxembourg), and compete and buy out European companies, shipping the high-pa

I've used Linux full-time at home for 10 years, and now at work (in an enterprise). For the most part, it works well and doesn't require a whole lot more support. The LTT video hit one specific packaging bug in PopOS that was pres

Now switch to Linux too. The more we invest together, the easier it becomes. German states can help Spanish states, and Finnish schools, Danish universities, and French businesses, etc. - collaboratively investing so that everyone benefits

I see this sentiment a lot, but it's always worked perfectly for me. The device connection is very impressive, and it even supports MPRIS on Linux. I find it even easier to use than Netflix (and there's no DRM limitations like Net

This was 10 years ago, it definitely wasn't possible by phone call back then. Hopefully it'll get better. I also had a terrible experience with Vodafone in the UK, charging the higher rates for data usage with no warning.

It's not, because there's no real receipt confirmation. They ended up chasing me for 3 years over 20 euros when I moved to the UK. At least here in Sweden, credit checks aren't really a thing thankfully.

Yeah, the first-hand contracts system is a disaster atm. But note that waiting time only applies to first-hand contracts. You can still rent second-hand. The idea would be to build much more, and buy up the former second-hand places.
