Is this really an unsolved problem? If you need that functionality can't you do it with ps or pkill -U and an alias? This approach also allows you to send SIGTERM first. http://unix.stackexchange.com/a/136552/

The core is hopefully audited and so far except some XSS problems no remote exploits are know for the last few years? However having an usable remote exploit gives you a shell on more than 20% of the websites.

If they start annoying the developers they are lost. So they don't do stupid things there. But it looks like they never cared or plain stopped caring for the end users.

This is article is pure speculation. The linked source[1] does not make such a statement. Basically they put a graph on the right side without labels. This could be everything. E.g. inverse TDP 1: http://www.3dcenter.org/new

Stasi used people to bug on people as early as in high school - it was at least in my opinion much more nefarious than passive mass surveillance - at least it's different. I'm from the former GDR and they wreaked havoc over countl

False dichotomy - I think it should be similar to Kerckhoffs's principle in the long run. OSS yes, but it's signed and audited when it's able to run. Maybe like an open source version of microcode updates for CPUs. You could

There are countries where people go to jail over Facebook or Twitter comments and even just using it could be triggering some arcane investigation against you. Also Iran (likely others) did try to inject tracking JS in plain HTTP and they g

It's still buggy as hell. Ubuntu 15.10 or 14.04 has a lot more annoying quirks than Windows. Lot's of desktop tools are full of memory leaks and crash-prone. KDE is somewhat more stable but needs a usability overhaul. Let's b
