You're certainly entitled to your opinion. It's just a strong stance to take for something you surveyed for 15 min. and then proceeded to compare to a few things that don't make a ton of sense. But that may very well be due to holes in th

I have a feeling this discussion is going to go basically nowhere. But I'll bite. The command you cited is a generator. It generates a complete passenger and MySQL setup. It's a sensible default that handles a large set of use cases. If

Full disclosure: I'm one of the rubber devs. But, did you look at any of the wiki pages? I think all of your questions are answered right there: https://github.com/wr0ngway/rubber/wiki I think you largely missed the point of rubber. Rub

By having full access to EC2 you naturally can do things that are either considerably harder or just not possible with heroku. If you don't need that additional flexibility, then by all means, use heroku as it may be the best tool for the

It's a logic error in remarkable_rails that results in an infinite loop on Ruby 1.9. Andrew Selder tracked the issue down and provided the fix: https://rspec.lighthouseapp.com/projects/5645/tickets/1027-s...

Interesting tool. I recently got my Rails 2.3 app running in 1.9.2. This utility wouldn't quite cut it though because most of my effort was devoted to getting remarkable_rails working just so I could get my specs to run. After all that ef

Could you elaborate a bit please? I've read your comment a few times over and I don't quite get what you mean that it's a "development tool." I have no idea what you mean by using it "to perform deployments." To me, and everyone I did a v

I seemed to have a lot fewer problems when 1.3.7 was the status quo. I'm not looking forward to 1.6 at all. Changing gem activation is certain to cause a whole mess of problems I've never had to deal with.

I've found most of the comments on just about anything from the RubyGems guys to be off-putting, degrading, and/or insulting. Not to mention just about every new release breaks my apps on me and it's always made out to be my fault (or some

Agreed. I saw Sparrow highly touted by friends on Twitter, but I couldn't wrap my head around it. But maybe because it reminded me of Twitter for Mac, which I can't wrap my head around either. The new Postbox release is pretty solid and d

Well, don't tell anyone, but I used to use Outlook with Business Contact Manager. It was great. When I exchanged email with a potential lead or a customer, I could log all correspondence from within my mail app. I didn't have to worry ab

I'm interested in whether anyone has found one that will let you log messages from within GMail. I'm not talking about the "social CRM" that can pull up an avatar. I don't want to have to forward or BCC messages to get them into my CRM, s

Just to follow-up, we do have automated issue detection now. So, we're able to detect a whole class of rendering problems and report just the pages you should look at in the browsers that seem problematic.

We now have auto detection of errors, so we can report rendering failures in IE without you having to do it manually. Auto fixes are still a long way off :-)

We spent a considerable amount of time on the price point. As you can imagine, at nearly every interval there's a contingent of people that won't pay for one reason or another. So, your concern about the $45/month isn't unique, but the pr

Sorry about that. We're doing our best to keep up with demand. Seems something funky happened for you. I just ran that site through and it returned in about 27 seconds. Would you mind trying again?
