yeah, even for GPIO interfacing, there are far cheaper options (ESP32) than the raspberry Pi out there. The Pi was an appealing piece of hardware about 10 years. But now, not sure it makes sense to use as a low cost server.

At $60 - its able to run anything x86, plus hardware transcoding and a cpu about 3x more powerful than a RPI 5, not sure why anyone would even want a raspberry pi. Not to mention the built in 2.5G nic with PoE and m.2 slot. Adding a PoE

I love all these NASA standards guides and manuals. One of the best one I still refer to and has been posted here often is their wiring guide. https://s3vi.ndc.nasa.gov/ssri-kb/static/resources/nasa-std-...

Interesting article. I have always been curious about how weapons systems like missiles communicate with command and control systems. Especially how the datalinks worked on cold war era systems. Not a lot of info out there. So this article

A relative of mine had back surgery late yesterday. Today the hospital nursing staff couldn’t proceed with the pain medication process for patients recovering from surgery because they didn’t have access to the hospital systems.

That is neat. I wonder if the antenna is there for aesthetics ? Also, would've been better if it folded up like a clamshell phone from the early 2000s.

Nirsoft utilities are invaluable. I usually always pull down some of their tools on a new build. DNS sniffer is one I use often these days to blacklist domains using Pihole.

I've been self-hosting this https://github.com/dbgate/dbgate for a few years. But I like some of the features in SQL Explorer interesting - like Pivot tables and exposing queries as JSON endpoints.

Would need lot of extra fuel to raise altitude for an escape trajectory. Fuel either brought up the gravity well at launch or later refueled in orbit. Of course not all satellites are designed to allow in-orbit refueling. Maybe an reusab

It was going to happen, these flip displays with moving parts probably required maintenance. Also higher energy consumption. Not to mention the noise. I still remember the noise when they use to have these in trains and airports.

OEM licenses for windows 11/10 are dirt cheap even here in the U.S. You can get a single use (can only activate once) for around $10-15. Most of those online sellers are based in China or HK. So yeah, those are legit OEM licenses. S
