This is pretty good! I spot checked one video ( https://jonatron.github.io/fosdem2023whisper/files/rust_core... ) and it's done a decent job. It mostly makes mistakes around a few proper nouns. - coreutils =>

Great article. TFA this thread is based on is low quality. It’s breathless in its criticism of the legislation but uses hyperbole instead of calmly laying out the issues. The Maven Central guy puts it plainly - the proposed legislation does

Too much conspiracy theory. AFAIK there definitely is a preference for Apache/MIT dual licence but this is probably because of the influence of the Rust compiler itself. Most of the initial Rust code was written by people involved with

Dan there’s no sugarcoating this - you’ve got it wrong on this one. I say this as a supporter of your moderation policies in general. The sooner you reverse this decision, the better for everyone.

In general rewriting a well functioning, battle tested codebase is probably a bad idea. But sticking to “battle tested” means a local minima at times. For example, there’s no shortage of CVEs in OpenSSL’s past or future. It’s definitely “ba

No, I’m imagining cross-language usage. Someone not using Go isn’t going to use the crypto/tls package from the Go std lib regardless of its quality. The overhead and difficulty of calling into Go make this infeasible. To include a lib

I agree in general except HN also rewards quality a bit more. All new comments get a few minutes to bask at the top of their subthreads. So a really good, late comment can still get to the top and stay there.
