Yeah, what you're saying is quite likely. I think the truth is somewhere in between. Kojima benefits from relying on a highly skilled team that deserves more credit than they get. At the same time he probably doesn't get enough cr

You appear to be calculating something like Wins Above Replacement by saying the only thing that changed between these releases is the director being replaced. But you don't know that for sure. For example, Kojima would have known the

I'm frequently told on HN that Big Tech would willingly, flagrantly violate GDPR like its nothing. Even if the upside of collecting that info was minimal and the downside was 4% of global revenue. I guess if they can do that, then what

That makes a lot of sense. The characters following astrology would explain why all their decisions felt so disconnected and weird.

I might be one of the few people who didn’t like this book. Philip K Dick (the author) manages to come up with some of the most incredible premises. And then somehow the plot meanders into some boring, meaningless corner that left me mystif

I’m so glad we’ve moved on from the journalism of “here’s what 3 or 4 people are talking about on Twitter” to “here are a few videos on TikTok with barely any views starting a massive trend”. Can’t wait for the journalists to fully automate

That’s an uncharitable summary of that comment. A better one would be “please understand that this is talking about advertising and regulation in a country with norms very different from your own. If you don’t know the difference, don’t jum

It doesn't gratify your curiosity but it does for others. They're curious about how this game is going to be, is it going to live up to their expectations, what do other people feel about it. If you need every conversation to re

Many HN readers grew up with this franchise so they're invested. And surprisingly, the devs managed to make a game so good that it would be considered top 50 of all time. This thread is mostly just a bunch of excited fans looking forwa

Playing Switch games emulated on the Steam Deck is pretty common. The power of the Deck does give you better performance, no doubt. The trade off is that the battery life is significantly worse than a Switch.

I think it’d be hard to describe. Maybe you could watch gameplay videos on YouTube? One quote from a reviewer that I remember - “I didn’t know other games had me in shackles until Breath of the Wild set me free”.

Burning fuel is pretty efficient, until you realise that heat pumps have an efficiency greater than 1. So a heat pump driven by electricity uses less energy than burning fuel in a boiler. If the electricity is renewable, so much the better.
