You can have real time multitasking, the key is to be able to provide bounds and guarantees around execution. Freertos even has SMP on the RP2040 dual core system.

FAA is incentivized to do nothing and sit on its hands. It's a mess. A good quarter of the country is medically barred from ever flying, even solo. The chances of this changing are 0 and it'll get worse. Insert the "who could

Perfect is the enemy of the good. It's a reasonable general purpose choice. Of course don't use it if you have stricter requirements.

Integrating the ssd controller into the soc allows for it to scale with the process used for the soc and also removes what is essentially a multicore system from being an external, potentially compromised unit. This way there is never any c

Good news, Nvidia will now sell you a GPU+NIC+CPU with competitive performance: https://developer.nvidia.com/blog/accelerating-data-center-a... Twitter operates a handful of datacenters because their scale is such that

Great, staple a few ML accelerators to your NIC. Nvidia sells them! You could build an entire supercomputer style setup 100% optimized for Twitter data movement and computation with COTS hardware IMO. I strongly doubt that entire datacenter

How is fp64? Nvidia crippled the 4090 to just 1.3T fp64 flops so if a mac mini with m1 could match that it'd be a solid win

Sad. Being able to immediately upgrade all JPEGS to jxl without any reencode loss is huge. And no royalty issues either, plus no need for a much more complex decoder.

AC has to deal with reactance and those associated losses in addition to resistance. AC resistance goes up with frequency because of the skin effect too. This matters for underwater lines especially.

The key is that wages also rise (not proportionately) in step with inflation but investment returns don't. It matters very little if eggs go up by 10% each year if wages go up by 10% each year. Of course what we have is stagflation: wa
