Just yesterday I was reading an interview with the CEO of a German company which produces coronavirus tests about how they charge 2.5EUR for a single testing kit and that reasonable cost for processing it should be around 10EUR. Where does

I gotta give it to Signapore Airlines PR machine - they sure manage to get them some good press. Too bad the actual experience flying them is not that exceptional. And don't get me started about their food... Out of 20+ airlines I'

What ever happened with continuations in Scala? A lot of people were excited about them back in 2009, but if I google them now I still only get pages from 10 years ago. I haven't used Scala in a very long time, so I stopped paying atte

A friend of mine used to work at a junkyard. People would bring in old computers all the time and he could buy working parts from the company by the pound (literally). He made a lot on the side selling them online to people who needed spare

And suddenly it becomes clear why they care so much about blocking advertising cookies in the browser - in order to drive programmatic ad revenue towards the apps where the device specific advertising ID is available.

Laphroiag Quarter Cask was the first "proper" whisky I bought. You can imagine my disappointment over the following months as I was trying to find one that would be even more distinctive... nothing came even close. Though Caol Ila

The last time I checked it was still possible to buy a computer without Windows, as well as buy Windows that can be transferred between machines. Most people just don't bother with that.

It's because they want your device's advertiser ID so they can associate it with your interests based on subreddits you visit. There's gold in them ad targeting data hills.

Had to use WebEx on a client call once. Had to install two different packages because audio was "provided by Comcast". It was the only time ever that I saw the video, but couldn't get audio, so a coworker had to update me on

For me the most important part of reviewing any nontrivial changes it actually check out the branch and test every change I see. This keeps a lot of issues from reaching the QA team and catches issues they could have missed since they don&#

This complete disregard for speed limits was a huge shock to me when I was driving in Florida 2 weeks ago. In quite a few EU countries we stick to the posted limits quite strictly. But in the US I was literally bullied into driving way abov

AMP ads are still served from other domains; but you have the option of writing them in AMP and having them validated & signed by a service to qualify for faster loading.

AMP still requests ads separately from the page and it still loads any ad without objections. It's just that if the ad is also written in AMP and signed by a validation service, it qualifies for faster loading instead of being delayed

I thought so too, but it turns out mu-so only supports AirPlay, but not also Google Cast, even though it supports Spotify Connect and Tidal. I suspect it might have something to do with it also being sold in Apple stores (pure speculation).

My Naim mu-so single speaker was over $1300 and I don't regret the purchase. I also have a Google Home (got it at IO this year) and I can tell you it sounds pretty awful - way too much bass at any volume level. So whether HomePod is wo

The users of this extension have a clear case of the "I'm allowed to poke the dog with a stick, but the dog is not allowed to bite me" mentality, so it's a complete surprise to them when it happens.
