You can also view a list of someone's friends by trying to recover their password. I reported it to their security team months ago and didn't get a response.

I don't have anything to add to the conversation except for the fact that your comment made me literally laugh out loud at its absurdity and naivete. Thanks, I needed that.

It's silly to use a US company and expect privacy. Expect that PIA is backdoored out the wazoo and avoid them entirely.

Yes, but in doing so you increase supply and therefore decrease the price. When you have a large amount of bitcoins, selling them all means flooding the market and ultimately selling them at a very low price. The best you can do is sell a

Jealousy? Yes, that must be it. The ridiculous and exaggerated money worship and pro-capitalist sentiment on this site is perhaps its worst quality. Is there any alternative for awesome technical news without the terrible startup news?

I only have Tor logins recorded and nothing indicates that my account was compromised, so one of the exit nodes I used must also have been used by the attackers. I guess it doesn't necessarily mean that the entire attack was done over

The attack must have been done over Tor. My account was flagged and locked but it's not reasonable to say the password was cracked. However, I do my day-to-day browsing over Tor and the matching IP addresses caused a false positive.

With a secure password and secure browsing habits, I shouldn't need to. I shouldn't need to inconvenience myself like that to accomodate for the host's poor security.

GitHub has rate limiting in place (for user logins), as it demonstrated when it counter-intuitively locked me out of my own account while I tried to regain access. The fact that multiple accounts were compromised through this attack (despi

No, it'd be the right thing if they didn't get hacked to begin with. This is _GitHub_ being bested by _brute force_.

It depends on the goal of the script. I tend to rewrite complicated shell scripts in Ruby, but working with subprocesses in Ruby is terrible, so those scripts are destined to end in `.sh` forever. bash has a very specific purpose where it

I feel that the main problem with online backups is simply a matter of bandwidth. I have in excess of 3 TB of data and even if I only backed up things I considered _critical_, it would still be so much that it would take a week to upload a
