Why are you using GA if you hate GA?

No, that isn't a viable strategy. This Hacker News thread is evidence that transparency of some kind exists, and that public scrutiny is completely, 100% inconsequential for the elite.

Sort of. Capistrano can clone a git repo for your application code, but by git-based deployment I mean via post-receive hooks a la Heroku. For example, a short script that runs `bundle install`, `rake assets:precompile` and restarts your

GitHub is shady in its tracking and data gathering and is opposite the decentralized nature of git, so signing up would indeed be selling out on my principles for the ability to use this website. Truthfully, I've forgone things much m

I need to wonder why people insist on using terrible names like these. It takes careful analysis of the word just to be able to read and pronounce it, and I will certainly never remember it. Especially contrast with Rap Genius, a name tha

It isn't _just_ GitHub, but it's 90% GitHub. And 10% Torvalds. The important part is that it's 0% actual, useful reasons.

Mercurial isn't the terrible DVCS that people left for greener git pastures; indeed it's the opposite: GitHub is why git won, and people are still learning how terrible git is and how awesome Mercurial is. They don't "s

I switched to Arch Linux after the Amazon fiasco and can only say I wish I did sooner. It's marvelous, and if you think Ubuntu's PPAs are good, you need to see the AUR. I think I've done the `./configure && mak

Yes. That is, in fact, a very easy answer. You're either strongly underestimating the consequences of bullying or strongly overestimating the effectiveness of legislation or regulation.

It's correct that sexuality changes throughout your life. It's also correct that it's fixed, because a person doesn't decide how that changes.

Having used GitHub Pages, S3 and my own VPS for hosting, a homebuilt host is by far the easiest. rsync is easier to use than git, which is a million times easier to use than S3. I might go so far as to say that storing compiled HTML on git

This is pretty cool. Does Light Table have plain text configuration that can be stored in git? I would consider an editor that isn't configured that way to be a regression.

Why not just host it yourself then? You can get precompiled gzip and sane caching. The only reason I can think of to use GitHub Pages is not wanting to pay for a proper host.

Does anybody else find the CAPTCHAs needed to purchase this a little excessive? I'm doing my best to give them my money, but after 10 failed reCAPTCHA attempts I'm tempted to just close the window.
