Dell customer service was awesome, then turned awful in 2000 or so when Dell left the company. I dont know how it is now but I imagine better again? Dells entire value was solid computers + great service, thats how they got big. These days

Dell is a surprising addition, but only logical if you consider that every business partner of Microsoft, ever, was either bought out or killed by Microsoft. I am still surprised people want to be business partners with that company. Watch

I think its also about Microsoft and how the company has failed to provide any real additional value over a Windows XP machine with Office 2001. My corporate client is running XP with Office 2003 and I really wish they'd stuck with the 2001

Hmmm .. a company that refuses to sell to a potential customer. And that doubles their prices for the government. I guess one cant be too surprised at their downfall....

Indeed. No reality distortion fields or elevator firings or questions about virginity. Then again, I suppose all those really crazy things happened during his fist stint at Apple when he was young and restless.

When you look at some of the iApps - like iPhoto - i dont think he's irreplaceable. iPhoto sucks and always has. In software design, his influence was definitely hit and miss. Even a genius can err at times ;)

I beg to disagree. I was surprised that Apple Maps also get the information granularity completely wrong, that is the amount of data presented at a zoom level. This, and not the data, made the app uttterly unusable for me on a recent trip t

Its still always better to go there; it was like this in Burma (before they opened up); and it is like this in North Korea. The more contact there is with the outside world, the quicker things will change. A boycott only helps the people in

Hurry up and compile? I think a lot of times features of languages are highlighted because they make it easier or faster do write code. And so it should be. But a huge factor in this is IDE support. Those people sticking to their various fl

Much simpler answer: Bugs. If kill -9 does not work, its a bug. The kernel needs to be able to end processes no matter what the process is doing. By definition this should not be about how the misbehaving process was implemented. I imagine

True, and very interesting. None of the software currently out could be called timeless. Maybe timeless user interface design has simply not been found yet? Closest are probably the first apps that came out with the Macintosh. But everythin

As a UX person I still give MS a fail on Windows 8. Yes it has a clean, aesthetic look. But it lacks usability. And any design that is not primarily focused on usability is best described as Kitsch. Even if it has all square angles. That do

It may be important to remember that flatness is not something that came out of Apples labs. To the contrary, the 'clickable' look on buttons was invented at Apple (Xerox had flat buttons). And the reason, surprise, surprise, was and always

Throughout the history of computing, the number of problems to be solved has grown faster than the number of problems solved. It's a safe bet this trend will continue as we enter the age of ubiquitous computing.

I dont think it makes it better or worse at all, with the exception of certain girls who like to watch it to get in the mood in which case its certainly a force for the better. Putting the "its not good for you" label on it also makes it im

Porn is not bad as long as you keep in mind that its a bunch of BS. If you want sex better to spend your time on adult friend finder or similar. Or make a lot of money; theyll never admit but girls like money.

Lets cut this BS argument short: Who is driving a car? I thought so. There were no cars, planes, or McDs in the Savannah either yet somehow we cope with those things. Personally I dont think porn comes close what the Romans were actually do

I havent given up on getting rich, but I recently thought about what David Deida said: Whatever it is that you really want, imagine you have it, pretend you have it, right now, and think about what would be different. Act like you have it.
