it is indeed patronizing and presumptuous, although i must assume it was well intentioned. i was adding commentary to an internet discussion board, not applying for a job. plus, they just made up a job profile which isn’t accurate, so even

i am not advocating hiring purely on potential. and of course i view it from the employer's point of view as well. you simply can't hire well if you ask what amounts to puzzle questions in interviews. it doesn't address what

well python is often loved for how clean it is. however, i believe f# (or any ml dialect) is much cleaner than python in terms of syntax. and not only is it cleaner, it is more consistent, which is due to its ml ancestry. python is often lo

it is truly amazing to me that an ML language never made it mainstream. an OOP-enabled ML like F# or Ocaml beats the pants off of the likes of something like python, but here we are where python is taking over the world. and everyone else i

why is this so bonkers? it seems like it's just basic patterns of method overriding and operator overloading. if people think this is so magic, it's almost as if lisps, schemes, and prologs never existed.

a subway map has little to do with a geographic map. only the nodes and time traveled between them matter. the shape of the actual routes is immaterial.

the author of TFA probably thought the desire for correct shape in a map is implied and wasn’t trying to defend against map pedantry. of what use is a map if the shapes are wrong?
