That's what I feel like, too. Every ORM that I've worked with is a separate DSL that I need to learn. Also, abstracting away the database is something I don't get - why abstract away something that I explicitly chose because

These numbers are called "Highly Composite Numbers" [0]. Basically, it is a series of numbers where each number has more factors than the number before it (and is the first number with that number of factors). As you hinted, they

There was WebSQL, which aimed to be an SQL database as a JavaScript browser API [0]. Turned out, every browser used SQLite as an implementation backend which lead to the deprecation of WebSQL. [0]: https://en.wikipedia.org/w

Looking at this [0] news from about a month ago, the Chrome team showed that they are trying to bring Rust to the table. However, their wording was: > The Chrome security team is working to make a cross-platform memory safe language avai

The main page [0] shows you awesome demos, but also its weaknesses in the very first example. It doesn't encode the url encoded body properly: > body: `text=${text}`, So it breaks if the text contains a '&' and even al

I was under the impression that they compile with /checked per default. TIL! Regardless of that flag, Math.Abs will throw an OverflowException: https://referencesource.microsoft.com/#mscorlib/system/math....

I've a C# background and was pretty surprised about that. C# throws an exception in that case.

This is very cool. I like that it doesn't use a build process nor code generation. And especially that the project doesn't need to re-implement parsing and type inference.

By mutating queries I thought of UPDATE, INSERT and DELETE. It should be possible to parse those and check if they obey the schema, so raw SQL that updates/inserts/deletes data could also be checked.

I'm not a fan of the idea of leveraging TS types at runtime. This is just a lock-in to TS, even if type annotations become a thing in JS. I don't like ORMs that use runtime types either. Most of the time, I want to write raw SQL.

TypeScript also lets you create subsets of infinite size. For example, a string template literal type can be a type with (theoretically) infinite string values matching a string template. I've created a proposal for doing something sim

Author of a web-based GraphViz editor [1] here. We're currently using viz.js [2], which is the original GraphViz compiled to WASM. Since viz.js is unmaintained, we're looking for a replacement. This library looks really promising!

You can use an AbortController for that. Also, keep in mind that the linked solution does not abort the web request. It only aborts waiting for the response in the JS code. The browser does not close the connection.

IMHO safe navigation only makes sense when the compiler is able to reason about nullability, meaning nullability is rooted in the type system. That's the case for Kotlin and not for Java. Otherwise, you've got a high risk of devel
