State schools provide adequate education and are affordable. I hope the same people who introduced federal student loans don't decide to nationalize the education system because the former was an absolute disaster.

They do, but they want reception outside of those densely urbanized pockets. They want reception on the highways between the cities, at their lake house, or if they live in a rural area. The denser population subscribers still pay for the i

Surely population density plays a huge role in the relatively lower coverage of both US and Canada compared to Europe. Switzerland: 206/sqkm Germany: 240/sqkm Eurozone as a whole: ~100/sqkm Canada: ~4/sqkm USA: 35/s

Should only the rich be able to fly? I don't mind being crammed in a metal tube for a few hours if it means I can use the money to splurge on restaurants/activities while I'm there.

What GP proposed was a Wealth Tax which is an additional tax on _living_ people who have a net worth over a certain amount. What you linked is an Estate Tax (aka death/inheritance tax) which only applies when someone passes wealth on a

The same could be said about people who want to take other's money away. People are spend-thrifts enough as it is, a wealth tax just dis-incentivizes being fiscally responsible.

On the JSON viewer being annoying: is the issue that it shows the information twice for all fields? That's what drives me crazy. I wonder how hard it would be for a newcomer to make a fix for this.

Care to expand on that a bit? If you're saying it should have the same amount of votes in the House as a larger (by population) state has, what is the purpose of having 2 separate legislative bodies?

MITM'ing the connection between LE and a server is generally much more difficult and targeted than between any client and the server. Two different scenarios there.

Exactly the point and origin of the 2 separate parts of the legislature. Percent of population benefits states like California in the house and puts states like Wyoming on equal footing in the Senate.

I love open source software and use it everyday, so this question is coming from genuine curiosity. I'm a bit conflicted about how I feel above the "ethical" argument for OSS. Why is closed source software unethical? Is it un

That was my point. The customer won't pay for any financial loss, so therefore the financial institution would.

In most cases checking/savings account hijacking would have little or no loss to the customer (usually there is a time frame the loss has to be reported by and there may be a low minimum fee of $50 or so).

Should we bring back telephone operators too? The price for phone service (especially long distance) has dropped since phones were invented, surely some of that is due to automation and tech advances.
