It takes a second to open an app, become a MAU, and then close it in disinterest. I'll admit this is my relationship with Facebook. I never see anything on there I am remotely interested in. Just old relatives spewing nonsense. But

People aren't as stupid as HN wants to think they are. Twitter will be judged based on how it actually evolves, not Musk's brand. Time will tell. Let's not pretend the site wasn't an absolute disaster before the acquis

The truth is if it involves any form of money there are scams abound. Crypto is no difference. Our entire economy almost collapsed in 2008 because of scams.

I think this is an insightful assessment. Not everyone in a company can be top line. But I also think there's a lot more opportunity in using statistics/ml/data science in the top line than most companies practice.

It is though. There are plenty of growth stocks down 80%. Many of which were being pushed heavily by the Youtube finance crowd. The same ones peddling FTX (cough)...

You are right. If you are referring to the GP of my post I agree with them - there are many growth stocks down more than crypto at the moment. That was what I was trying to say but did so poorly. I was just clarifying what I meant by tho

I have an options account with TD Ameritrade. It took a few clicks to get. But it's pretty convenient traditional finance can be redefined when needed.

Sure if you are being pedantic you got me. I was just trying to make the point that there are very risky positions you can hold in traditional finance as well and you can be down thousands of percent.

Options very well can be down more than 100%. It's a leveraged bet and a very common vehicle in traditional finance. So much so you can buy/sell them on platforms like Robinhood.

This is not true. The riskiest stocks are down thousands of %.

As is true in traditional finance as well. If you want to escape fraud altogether you might as well not have any wealth. The entire 2008 financial crises was due to fraud...

I think the focus should be on how to improve animal lives as much as possible, exposing bad players in the industry, and reducing carbon emissions from animal husbandry. That's the practical solution now which would have the largest

That's a tautology. If you have manual testing, unit testing, and type checking then of course you are only going to see bugs that pass those. But what bugs did you not see hit production because these eliminated it?

Many consoles come with one built in. We just use the PS5. I'm not particularly into buying tv shows, but there are definitely quite a few movies out there that look a lot better on a 4k blu-ray than 4k streaming.

At least where I live you can't turn heating off. Pipes freeze. Appliances get damaged. We keep it about 62F during the day in the winter whether we are home or not. We only get groceries twice a month. I only drive a 2-3k miles a ye

I don't know for me it's just not necessary. I know who has my back already. This would just feel like pandering. I'd rather people didn't act like I suffered a traumatic life event. It's just a job after all.

What exactly would you say makes me gullible? I never said it was open or free, that was completely fabricated by yourself and others. The repo doesn't even say it's open. It's purely a repo for reporting issues.

Falcon Heavy is not designed for crew. Starship is but is still under development. On the other hand, this launched today. We can afford the extra cost, I celebrate the success. Some day Starship will have its moment as well.

I'm guessing you are correct, seeing as in a similar fashion I'd imagine there are a lot of people who have no idea what their 401(k) is even invested in. However when going through the annual election process it generally makes i
