I find the strength, openness, and responsiveness of the community (mailing list, freenode IRC chat) to be node's greatest asset. They've done an amazing job in building culture and that should serve node well as it matures.

Some long-running hidden chromium process that doesn't seem to die when you quit or force-quit chrome on mountain lion. You have to go into activity monitor to kill it. This never happened in Snow Leopard.

Alongside the rankings (Speed, Trust, Reliability, Privacy) there should be user ranking/rating. For me, curation is the biggest problem (yes, there are hundreds of startups attacking collaboration, but which is the best for my need?)

"When you do this, you're wasting time that could be spent sleeping." Why not just argue the general point: When you are on HN you're wasting time that could be spent doing something productive.

What exactly is revenge porn and how does "defamation" apply in this case (I am aware that the suit does not involve defamation in a way related to revenge porn)? If it involves posting pornographic pictures involving others that approved

Slightly OT: what's the current status of online gambling? There were talks of nevada and new jersey loosening restrictions, but most of those were reported by financial analysts and not by the technical community.

Thank you. This is why I come back to HN: for pretty much every technical question I have, there's someone with experience with many alternatives and can give their opinions :)

Let's be fair here -- the grants originally were sponsored by Etsy ( http://www.etsy.com/blog/news/2012/etsy-hacker-grants-suppor... ), so your angst should be directed at Etsy's policies, not at Hacker School. Let me also say that Nick and

Are you supposed to "click-drag" or "click the piece then the cell"? How about on iOS ? My point is that, while the one-liner captures the idea of the captcha, the summary doesn't explain how to actually execute.

Reminiscent of the github argument that everything but the secret sauce should be open sourced: http://tom.preston-werner.com/2011/11/22/open-source-everyth... Of course, they are also saying what is convenient for them.
