My experience has always been that if you take 6 months to contribute to open source centered around the new thing you want to work on, you'll quickly meet people that will allow you to get a job.

I actually like the calming feature but what's a bit sad is missing thoughtful replies and only noticing them a day or 2 later when I know the person who left the reply won't see my reply to them. So, I think both could be complim

The nice thing is that in democracies you can influence what is done against graffitis. Don't like graffitis? try to push your local representatives etc to be stricter on them or move to a country that has no graffiti like Singapore. O

One suggestion I always have is take holidays in the target country and if possible send the child to a host family there (can use organisations like en famille). You don’t need a long immersion to learn the language at that age. I learned

What I despise the most are taggers who tag on top of a beautiful graffiti with lazily styled letters.

I think I’d be relatively happy if I woke up one day and saw a banksy or an invader mosaic on my wall. I’ve seen graffiti art that definitely improved grey ugly walls and barriers. I’ve also seen ugly tags that are nothing more than letters

I tried this as a student but then found that the actual useful part of a lecture is a tiny percentage and that it was just better to take advantage of the teachet’s office hour to ask questions well in advance of the class

At least for the theatrical Star Wars cut there's an excellent fan restoration 4k77 based on a 35mm IB technicolor film scan. The amount of work fans do to restore work they care about more than the corporate owners is always both amaz

In most south east asian household (Malaysia specifically since I lived there), they will leave the cooked leftover on the table below a fly protecting net and eat it up to the next day. This is in hot humid weather.

Execution is what matters in startups, if they either can't find developers who are halfway decent or if a cofounder wrote this, that's a major red flag that they don't know how to execute.

I’ve had a similar experience except that the person was clearly irritated at my response. He cut the call and I was only able to confirm that the call was legitimate because I asked my relationship manager at the bank.
