I did like the pun. However I'm going to argue with you. You can pick up a good mechanical Seiko watch with a tried and tested automatic movement for $100. When properly adjusted these can keep good time and do not need batteries. They

Personally I'm not against subscriptions model per se, but I am put off by massive price increases in the guise of a subscription. For example some apps have moved to a sub model where the annual fee is more than the original one-off p

What about sysadmins, web developers... ? This is what I mean by average Linux user. These people aren't coding native apps all day. The class of people qualified to contribute to open source Linux utilities is a subset of Linux users.

That's fine for a competent developer with a lot of time on their hands, but do you consider this to be a practical approach for the average Linux user?

I expected to find a comment like this. It's easy to dismiss something and make a cutting remark, rushing to assume that the obvious solution has been missed. I'm glad the OP has posted with the reasons, to make you look at least

It may not be a currency, depending how you choose to define that word, but it is certainly a fungible asset and a means of exchange. It acts both as a store of value and as method of transferring value from one party to another.

You don't need an exchange to make a bitcoin transaction, that's the whole point. It's decentralised. Exchanges are only for trading your fiat currency for bitcoin.
