And if you use a modern switch-mode replacement, you don’t need a heat sink at all. I know some folks like to put small heat sinks on the ULA though.

I’ve often wondered if writing on a CD/DVD with a Sharpie had an effect on the reflective layer, as I remember back in the day there were special markers for writing on these disks. Like the author though, I have perfectly serviceable

What was bad, on the Speccy at least, was that infernal Lenslok contraption! So while it was a 3-4 minute load, getting the Lenslok right the first time was a rare occurrence… Hateful thing. I still have mine :) https://en.m.wiki

Even if you’re not going to restore them right away, I’d suggest removing the batteries ASAP. If you’re lucky, there’ll be no damage to the motherboard. If you’re unlucky, you can treat and stop any further corrosion by treating with white
