It only gives a pretty rough estimation, not a street address. I don't think many self-hosters have run into issue w/ this.

This comment generated a lot of activity. It's very interesting watching the vote count of it move with the daylight (it went down during night in US/day in EU, and went back up when the US woke back up)

US can probably use their soft power to influence them not to do that. Also would imagine the US gov could also set up some more censorship resistant access methods.

Yeah there's way too many cool-sounding HN posts that are just blogs saying "and then Claude did X, then Claude did Y" and contain no original thought

GitHub/Microsoft would likely prefer that you allow AI contributors and wouldn't want to provide a signal to help filter them out

You don't know how involved it was. I would imagine it helped debug some tools that they used to create it. Getting it to actually end to end produce a more capable model without any human help absolutely is that complicated.

> GPT‑5.3‑Codex helps debug its own training Doesn't this support the author's point? It still required humans.

This does seem like an interesting idea. I'd wonder what the evaluation looks like? Does it just look at code quality? Or does it also incorporate some amount of apparent skill shown w/ prompting/managing an agent?

I believe the EUV Light Source you're referring to is made by ASML in San Diego. So ASML has the IP/knowledge to stand this production up elsewhere.
