Do we really want unification across those platforms? Not joking but x86 on phones doesn't work either. More suckery to come...

Confirmed here as well. Just had an audit smackdown. Problem is you never know you're in compliance or not due to various usage policies of MSDN licenses etc for internal use and the definition of internal use changes depending on how

I wasn't actually - never used Qt (been stuck in win32 and Wx). Thanks for pointing it out :)

It's possible. You can nickel treat alu to give it a consistent durable finish as alu oxide is quite easy to dent and this deposits some on the surface. Another thing I've seen is that a friend of mine's MBP has started to di

Another DSL. Structural DSL like this: form { input { name = "bob" label = "Bob" } button { action = #{bean.submit} } } I've actually wrote a C code gen

Its nickel which is present in the alloys they use. Unfortunately once you're sensitised to it then you're screwed. I am unfortunately screwed. This is a fairly big issue for a lot of people. Even my doctor asked if I use apple pr

I've had to cover all exposed metal parts on my MBP in vinyl. It gives me a rash otherwise. I bet he didn't think of that when choosing materials...

I suspect they are the 2013 Retina MBP of cars. Even the rather unreliable MultiJet engine I have in my car has had a total maintenance bill of around $2000 over 70k miles. This was for an EGR valve that got stuck and a timing chain.

Mainly FXML (I hate XAML as well) but it's better than Swing.

Very true, but system-wide consistency across all participants is a different problem to external reference accuracy but it starts as a reasonable basis that you can reason about.

I don't think it's a matter of taste. TBH I write very little of the code that is checked in to the source control. The IDE does all the boilerplate. I literally design the method signatures, define the access policy for the metho

I disagree with this, as a part time Java developer (I do C# most of the time). The points I disagree with: 1. OO is bad . Every paradigm is bad if you misuse it. If you build deep abstractions then you will hang yourself regardless. Some

We had radio time receivers (Rugby MSF, now Anthorn MSF) for a long time in the UK. Just plug them into an RS232 hole and have a site-wide master NTP server on that box, fire up the daemon and you're done. I think the last one we paid

I don't disagree with that at all. The stats are completely bollocks but they indicate a trend reasonably well even with the selection bias. What I'm saying is that they do have influence and after all, that's what GCHQ are a

No they're not. There are some online pollsters such as YouGov who predict significant outcomes with quite good accuracy. We're not talking about vBulletin polls or anything here - their entire business is polls. They also monitor

+1 for this. Grouping by ASN and netblock owner would be nice as well. I'm happy to shoot down entire ISPs.

Side note and possibly off topic. I have the 2001 Encarta dictionary, print edition! Wonderful book. Shame to see them shutting the project down. I wish they would release everything into the public domain.

The problem with the $25 handsets is that they are unusable abysmal pieces of junk. I've used an $80 Android and it was impossibly horrible. The 520 is pretty neat and performs well. My daughter has one. I'm one for Android though
