I guess the point was that yt-dlp is only possible, because of the mandatory protocols you need in the browser. Moving to native app makes it much easier to prevent downloading and denying access to the unencrypted content.

The only symptom is that captcha never completes. I have more restrictive protections on. If you use just loose settings, it completes, but advanced fingerprint protection, for example, breaks captcha completion. This is very known issue.

Unfortunately, Cloudflare and other protections will keep working even less than they used to. I have started to not use Cloudflare protected websites because they don’t work with Firefox. But that is a fight I am going to lose.

Some people don't have actual understanding of the meaning of security. Security is there to keep the features usable without interruptions or risks. E.g. plugging the computer off the network is not about security if the service needs

The issue list is full of bugs with segfaults. At least used to be when I last time checked it. But that is what you get with C/C++/Zig et all. It takes a lot of time to get good enough fuzzing and testing process to eliminate all
