Distributed queuing, with horizontal scaling workers and retries, without ever loosing a message/job, is surprisingly difficult to get right. It's simply not worth your time in a lot of cases. Similarly, why people don't jus

Patents encourage this idea of, "it's the idea, not the execution that matters". You see this propagate in start up land where new founders want you to sign an NDA just to pitch to you. The whole thing is silly. I don't

Even more important is almost all of iPhones market share is in USA. So would apple care about maintaining the market where most of it's phones are sold? Well, ya, of course.

It's a peer pressure thing. I know people who have legitimately bought iPhones because they kept getting left out of group chats.

Mongo solves it by not being ACID compliant, which is sort of a big deal. This is like comparing apples to watermelon. Essentially, mongo solves this the same way redis does, but you said redis doesn't count as a database. Also, it i

Sure, but the biggest difference is you jump into Linux knowing it has rough edges, and lots of options for fixing the thing that bothers you, versus Mac, which everyone touts as "just works". You expect Mac to be polished. Also,

The real problem with NPS is when a certain score is a goal. After all goodharts law states that is the case with any good measure.

Neither does the other person, though. With signal, you lose history, but anyone who hasn't changed devices, doesn't.

Uh. I personally hate signal groups. If you ever lose your phone, you loose all history. The desktop app works, but won't show any history. I know in signals eyes this is intentional, but it's also silly. I had access to all that

Open social looks really awesome, but also looks intentionally hard to find the source code to, and figure out how to run it. There are no pricing information or demo videos on the website, so it's hard to know if the saas pricing is e

I would really love to read something about the limitations of python and why he decided to redo the whole thing in c++ instead of say, cython, but I couldn't find any explanations as to why.

What you _can_ do, is buy the boox lumi, a 13 inch Android e-unk tablet. Then get a Bluetooth keyboard folio for it. You now essentially have a 13 inch laptop chromebook.

The video demo makes the article make a little more sense. But essentially there is a GIF tooltip for every feature listed on the pricing page so that you know what the listed feature in the comparison matrix, it's talking about.

You seem to be saying that event sourcing and event streaming are mutually exclusive. In almost all cases of event sourcing I have seen, event sourcing is event streaming, but more. When you say event sourcing, where do other services sourc

What you are talking about is CQRS, which is a very valid pattern, and pairs well with event sourcing, but is not necessary part of event sourcing. You don't have to split your read and write models for events sourcing.

I am confused when you say sharing events isn't part of event sourcing. How does a service populate it's state from other services event source if it can't access it's events?

I knew of a company that did a per head price. The problem is the higher the salary, the harder the role is to fill. They ended up going the percentage route eventually. I am sure there is a better price structure, but flat percent (20) see

I re-read the article after this comment, and I would have to disagree. The article does never attempt to explain "what" recent sourcing means to them, so it's hard to know for sure. However, they do mention populating state
