Well, you would pay for the full hour regardless of how long the machines were up. GCP would give you too the minute pricing however. But your right, even a full hour is really cheap

I always knew women had an unfair disadvantage in this industry. But I never realized it was this bad. This is a whole different level then I imagined, and makes me want to throw up. On behalf of my gender (im a male if that wasnt obvious f

Does the replication work cross-region, say US-East and US-West? or even cross continent? It sounds like the timing requires very short latency and might not work in these scenarios

Totally disagree with the premise of the article. Every metric tool that i know of that shows cpu utilization correctly shows cpu work. Load on the other hand represents cpu and iowait (overall system throughput). Io wait is also exposed in

The argument about why slack doesn't work well is a bit of a stretch. I understand all the points on closed system etc. But the author states that slack doesn't work because it's synchronous and it excludes others from partic

I love Firefox's keywords for bookmarks. I can type `gh` and be taken to GitHub, or `dh` for dockerhub, etc. Chrome can only do this for searching, not generic bookmarks. It basically is like a shell alias for all my favorite websites.

Am I the only one who thought this article was going to be about an ISP startup because of the title, and was disappointed when it wasn't?

This is probably the least "shiny" thing AWS has announced, but to me it's the biggest one yet. I can finally have a single LB for all of prod. This is probably the first thing they've announced that I will be using on d

I think your misunderstanding the tone of the article. I mention how the bottleneck is usually not the language. It IS important to optimize, but its important to understand where the real issue is. I later explain that things have to be on

In no ways am I saying Python is the only solution. Moreso that Python is A solution. Sure, other languages and things exist. After all, no silver bullet. Also, you are saying that google hit a scale where it really WAS expensive to use pyt

Ya, I guess the title is slightly misleading. But the point is that speed isnt everything. I will still use Python regardless of it being slow. That being said, Python3 is actually faster than python2 for most things, IIRC
