yep agreed, there has definitely been a big shift in priorities. When iPhones had dramatic hardware improvements every year (remember the S phones, 4s/5s etc, thats how fast things were moving) revenue was ticking up from genuine innov

Haven’t tried it, but expect it would work, just a smaller version of doing laps Aron s a 400m track. There was also something about the movement of air too, treadmill is so stagnant (can get fan I suppose, not quite the same?)

Treadmills are not a good experience, having only ever run outside for years, I was stuck in a hotel for a week and wanted to run, so treadmill it was. Comparing the two things I can’t understand why anyone uses a treadmill (maybe if outsid

Reminds me of the original atlassian bamboo pipeline as code impl that had you write the pipeline as Java or Groovy, can’t remember specifically. They got dunked on for it not being a declarative file. Now we’ve got a pipeline being defined

Would love a dive (hopefully deep) into IAM, the innards of that must be some impressive wizardry. Surprising there isn't more around about the amazing technical workings of these foundational AWS products.

yep is a founding decision, so they can use free git/github infrastructure to run their entire backend, and someone else pays for it. To do what you describe would require hosting something outside of that, which would cost $. Reminds

its easier to park a codebase and have it rot when its not in a monorepo where everything is assumed to be consistent/working all the time. I'd have thought you could just pull maintenance-mode products out of the monorepo tree an

CDK is just a different way of writing cloudformation essentially, its code that is transformed into cloudformation templates, so inherits all its problems. Pulumi is more like Terraform but without HCL. So imagine instead of having to find

Yeah it’s not _just_ 50ms cpu, there are other constraints like 50 sub requests, 6 open connections etc. Still faaairly generous, good luck getting 50 sub requests done in 50ms if you had to measure against wallclock =)

So if I want to hook into each 4 parts of the lifecycle, I configure that and it gets executed once? Can I maintain state between inbound request->origin request->origin response->inbound response? My understanding was you can’t an

Ah yeah makes sense. Really interesting that cf workers limit you to 50ms cpu time rather than wallclock time, makes lots of send-then-wait scenarios possible/way cheaper.

Pretty strange world where losing 300mil to this lot is a net win to maintain the hostile patent environment against their competitors. I guess it’s pretty similar to Apple acquiring the patents and then suing competitors.. but without all

Interesting, we’re just about to put cloudflare workers in prod and find their approach much more flexible vs lambda@edge being possibly triggered four times at edge part of a request life cycle. But this could significantly reduce cost if
