Facebook retargeting and general CPM advertising works well, but don't bother trying to build your fan page likes/numbers. FWIW, we spend about $40/month getting to 1k+ likes, and only 35-50 people, on average, see our non-bo

I thought I recalled that match was going to be free? Even so, of all the books I've purchased, they've only found matches for 2, which is very disappointing. Would like to see more titles available so going forward, I know whethe

Who needs it when, for an extra fee, your 'therapist' will get naked and give you a tour of the female body. Talk about blurred lines.

A 'rebranding' doesn't erase the past. This particular customer base is not foolish enough to fall for that one.

I am so, so disappointed about this. Really love Media Temple and had been considering moving more of our resources to them. On the other hand, I hate GoDaddy and will absolutely not remain a MT customer. Anyone have a list of good alternat

Never thought I'd see the day where we're talking weightlifting on HN. Deadlifts and Squats are two of my favorite parts of the week.

A business owner that engages in that practice is not going to keep his/her employees long.

But that's a completely different scenario, and one that I'm sure you would discuss with your hiring manager before accepting the position.

First and foremost, I don't worry about someone's hours at all if they are producing according to their role. During this time, I am clear on what I expect them to achieve, and I'm always open to discussion as it relates to p

I could care less about points. The value to me is in the discussion, but with those particular comments, the discussion wasn't happening, so I put them out of their mercy.

Correction: I didn't delete out of embarrassment. I deleted because there was no point in leaving them there to be downvoted to hell.

I wrote that part of my profile as a way to say that I love coming up with ideas and putting a small team together in order to build them so we can test their merits. At the time, we had a lot of products and I couldn't lead them all (

Totally. But I would never ask someone to work 80 hours unless it was very short term and/or a critical situation.

No. As long as they don't expect to clock an exact 40 every week. If we just finished a sprint and things are going well, I'm happy to tell people to go home or take a break. If we're in a sprint, or shit hits the fan, or rev

I disagree with you on the first line, but the rest is reasonable. No manager (at least not me) wants to measure hours, but when an employee's production is waning, that's one of the things you CAN measure to see if that's pa

I don't care about little things like that as long as they aren't abused (you aren't really picking up your child from day care). I don't care when a person works as long as they contribute according to their role.

I'm talking about the kind of person that wants to work 9/5 and retire with a watch. The baby boomers that are now struggling to find jobs and the millenials that are more concerned with self-discovery than in making a contributio

I see what you're getting at, but if you re-read my original statement you'll see that I'm targeting people that complain about working more than 40 hours. I don't count hours, but I do notice people that clock in/o

For those people (I used to be one), I agree that 40+ hours is probably not productive unless they want to get ahead and escape that grind. But escaping and having hobbies are generally not compatible.
