Apps are usually composed of several services working together, each service being in its own container. I'd like to be able to use something like docker-compose.yml to describe this. And it looks like Dokku doesn't do this.

The biggest issue I have with Kubernetes is it doesn't downscale. I have a lot of projects that don't need a cluster. A single node is enough. But Kubernetes has too much CPU and RAM overhead in such a configuration. Because of th

I love Gandi, but their email service is still unable to sign outgoing emails with DKIM, which is almost mandatory nowadays to avoid being flagged as spam.

You're right, it should work! When you wrote "backfill the remaining rows incrementally", did you mean having some background process or thread that reads a batch of rows from the old table (for example a few thousands of row

Any idea on how to do this without blocking writes when SQLite is embedded in a server process?

Use the same database for test and production. Nowadays, it is really easy to install PostgreSQL or MySQL locally or in your test environment. SQLite is great, but not for replacing PostgreSQL or MySQL during tests.

Some programmers complain about Go' simplicity. This reminds me of Oulipo, a group of writers and mathematicians seeking to create literary work using constrained writing techniques. Go is the Oulipo of programming: its simplicity stim

As far as I know, there is no way to link PostgreSQL as a library in another executable. At least, nothing supported by the official PostgreSQL project. Even MySQL, which used to be available as an embedded library, got rid of this, feature

Where do you store your data? Since you use at least two zones, how do you keep your data synchronized between zones? Do you use SQLite? What do you mean by an "image of the app"? A Docker image or something else? How does your ro

No you can't. But you can deploy the PostgreSQL executable along your app executable, and run it as a "sidecar" process, using a Unix-domain socket to let your app communicate with the PostgreSQL server, and setup PostgreSQL
