This is easily my favorite museum building. The collection is somewhat niche but the building alone makes it a worthwhile visit.

This was very sad to read. My grandmother was on hospice and her worker was an absolute saint -- she went to bat for my grandmother several times against her nursing home and social worker that were tired of dealing with her decaying mental

I did the same, except I ended up at two startups which became toxic and stressful and not nearly worth the effort I put into them. Maybe I'm just not good at picking startups. Anyways, I'm back at a boring but high paying job and

What's crazy to me is Hollywood is more focused on casting non-white actors in medeival fantasy roles rather than actually making culturally diverse movies. Chinese, Indian, and African history is fascinating and I would love to see mo

I've become pretty skeptical about "Product Management" as a function. I feel like it's one of those ideas that's cargo-culted from Google without anywhere near the same rigor. A good product person is worth their w

It's highly dependent on performance since quants are tied directly to a PnL number. If that number is really, really good they're making millions. More average quants are still making a premium over senior SWEs, underperforming q

Cool. Just a few thoughts: The tech and engineering discipline are always going to be worst than FAANG or one of the darling startups. That's part of what they pay the big bucks for, to minimize attrition. The flipside is that you can

I have. The hedge fund world isn't really as enigmatic as they would have you think. It's the same as anywhere else: work at a reputable company, get an interview, do well. I don't think it's much different than working

Nintendo is notoriously as hostile as they come, especially to the PC gaming market. Since Valve is all-in on PC I don't see why they should be the ones to play nice.

The idea is you shouldn't really need to. You have tools to memoize expensive operations in a React-friendly way, but even then you shouldn't really have to think about render cycles. YMMV but I the only time I've ever had to

So what? Historical names for other cultures usually come from the context under which they were first encountered. Arab sources call the Crusaders Franks because the first wave was mostly French. It's very common.
