> "simpler solutions are better than complex ones" Everything is a tradeoff. React adds bloat but simplifies development. If any idea should be recited dogmatically it should be "software development is too complicated to

If someone's at risk of dying on the way to the hospital making a CVS run is not the right call.

I'm in the exact same boat. Two weeks ago I thought about leaving to stay with family who live an hour outside Boston. Two things stopped me. The first was my family members are all still going to work (even though Boston is pretty bad

That's why they wouldn't have been able to do anything for him. They don't have the means to intubate him. They only handle minor physical injuries, x-rays, vaccines, and things treatable by routine prescriptions.

They didn't turn him out on the street: they sent him to the emergency room and he died en-route. Urgent care clinics are not hospitals, they don't even like writing prescriptions for anything other than antibiotics. At best they

Yep. There is not a state in the US where a 24h eviction is legal without a court being involved.

But it's still the code you wrote, it just executes using the React runtime. Svelte actually rewrites your code to inject the Svelte boilerplate to get it working.

const identity = function (value) { return value; }; This change is really confusing to me. I've never seen anyone who puts a space after the `function` keyword in an anonymous function.

Those tiny square alcohol prep pads (e.g. for diabetics and others who need daily injections) are sold out everywhere. I suspect people who couldn't find hand sanitizer or Clorox just grabbed whatever sanitizing products they could.

There's nothing wrong with having useStore() next to useTable() and using a few effects to keep them in sync.

FWIW that code snippet is broken -- you need to memorize your effect with [store.filter] to avoid the infinite loop.

I mean... not really. I wouldn't invest in building client-side applications unless they bought me something. My customers don't really care, the majority don't even know what an SPA is. They do care that our application is f

"Single page" isn't the why it's the how. It enables you to take a JavaScript-first approach which in turn makes building complicated applications easier.

Preach. I teach a little "into to web dev" workshop that starts with a slide explaining that static sites, SSRs, and SPAs are all perfectly acceptable. They're different tools for different use cases.

That's the core issue in my mind -- YouTube et al. are publishers when it benefits them and platforms when it doesn't. They can't simultaneously identify as press but then not be responsible for user-uploaded content.
