I've got an S8 and had no problems this winter using it while skiing. The lowest temperature I was out in was -25C, I think keeping it on your body is the best way to combat the temperature issue.

From what I've heard/read the process is very opaque and you may never truly know why it was removed, or flagged. Why not back them up to some physical storage you're able to control rather than letting a 3rd party delete you
