I don't care what nationality they are. If they're working as hard as I am, then they should get paid as much. That there are salary discrepancies between countries has a number of compounding factors, but often the U.S. has expl

In Canada, the term "Engineer" is a professional designation. You are not legally allowed to call yourself an engineer unless you have gone through the degree and professional accreditation. It feels really strange now to live i

I loved the idea of caring about design and making expensive, excellent versions of simple household products. But I think they really jumped the shark with this. I reeeeally don't like my smoke detector having a million apps in it, a

I reeeeally liked webOS. This whole industry has always suffered from lack of viable competition. There never seems to be enough market to support third players, where we're lucky enough to even have 2 market leaders. sigh... maybe t

3-4 releases a year sounds like there might be a solid QA cycle involved. e.g. I used to work on a webapp for flight planning: how much fuel should go in the plane's tanks, etc. It's not the sort of application that should be li

God I hope Apple doesn't start releasing shoddy beta-quality software like we've all been forced to expect from the web.

How does this compare to OpenID? Seems similar except with the premise that a user is their own identity provider, which is a QR-code-reading app on their smartphone. I like!

I'll continue to ad-block even if ads are non-intrusive or annoying. I prefer no ads to any ads. If your website requires a monetization scheme to exist, and you can't find a monetization scheme that doesn't pollute your pro

Flash is awful, but Firefox and the other browsers don't exactly have a great track record on security either. The less code and business built-in to the browser, the better its security.

Isn't autoplaying now pretty much impossible to stop, short of disabling JavaScript (where that's even an option)? Web pages have become an alternative, yet equivalent mechanism to flash.

Thanks for the tl;dr. Isn't this the same for most industries, and for pretty much everything? Genuine innovation takes lots of effort building things that people don't know they want yet, even IF they are in fact monetizable. A
