Lots of vague and specific scary things that parents think about. It comes down to limiting information to reduce the risk of information combining into something dangerous where the parts weren't dangerous by themselves. You have a picture

Limited autonomy of a four year old is good, but they need guidance and correction to know what to do with their autonomy. You're trying to grow an autonomous being, but you don't yet have one, and treating a kid as such can be as dangerous

I never made a conscious decision, but I mostly talked to my kid like he was a normal human being with all rights and privileges. Not to say I never went loony on him, but "normal" situations got normal conversation, with perhaps a bit more

I made a comment the other day about this being facebook's UX failure. This is a pretty damning illustration. How could they burden their users with something like this? Nothing but a maze of twisty little passages.

The NYT thinks people who read the NYT care about it. My opinion last week was firmly in your camp on the general population. Now I'm not so sure.

In the NYT Q&A linked from the article, VP Elliot Schrage gives a link to his profile and Zuckerberg's. Zuckerberg's is a good link. Schrage's is not found. Bad link, or item three for tomorrow's meeting? Edit: typo.
