IIRC, you can't do this for subscription based services - PayPal won't let non-US account holders store CCVs. Are you doing recurring billing with PayPal? If so, I'd love to know how!

"Interesting, but not sure how this is different than resizing the browser..." I'm pretty sure it isn't any different, but it's great to have this built in to the Web Developer tools instead of having to use a bookmarklet/website/resize t

I don't like being pedantic, but a sync'ed copy isn't a backup. It might protect against hardware failure, but it won't help against accidental deletion or corruption. I'm not sure if GDrive has file versioning/restoration built into it or

In a related vein: Try to change your name for your PayPal account. In Australia (and I assume globally), last I checked you had to fax 100 points of ID to them. Setting up an account requires nothing. I could wait until my CC expires and o

Can't wait for SPDY to be implemented for nginx. There's been discussion about it several months ago, but I haven't heard anything since. Does anyone who's involved with nginx have more info?

We're using more and more backbone in https://paydirtapp.com - it's currently an integral part of our time-tracker, with the same code base reused in our Chrome and Firefox extensions. We're also using it to drive d3.

In my uses of rails, belongs_to associations get changed frequently. Any time anything gets 'assigned' to something, this occurs: assigning something to a user, to a milestone, to a plan, to an account, maybe even to a priority. YMMV but I'

I don't have a well-formed opinion on this, but how would you propose handling nested attributes if mass assignment protection was managed in the controller?

I think it's just the old 'practice makes perfect'. It still takes me a couple of hours to write a ~300 word post, but the more I do it, the faster I get at it. Just keep on writing and you'll get a feel for when it's done 'enough'.

I haven't had a lot of experience with caching, and I agree with your comment above about database views, but wouldn't the complications be mitigated by using the approach DHH detailed recently? http://37signals.com/svn/posts/3113-how-key-

A simple page like that should be easier and faster to create from scratch using a WYSIWYG tool... I'd argue that landing pages are the most important and most complex pages to get right.
