It's easy to install k8s curl a helm chart too, doesn't mean you should. What you're missing is complexity and second order effects. Making decisions about databases early results in needing to make a lot of secondary decisio

I had someone on here assume we were a small dev shop because we don't use microservices the other day. I don't think they were expecting 2k devs to be what I responded with. Apparently monoliths a scale a lot bigger than you'

They took 160m and turned it into a 5 billion dollar company... And that's not success to you?

Not that small, 2k devs. Generally we don't go walking through other teams code bases unless we have to and we usually consult with the team before doing stuff. They just don't let their roadmap block our roadmap. We don't us

I couldn't handle that. At $WORK we encourage teams to unblock themselves. If that means you need to work on someone else's codebase off you go. Territorial people don't last long here. I can't remember the last time I w

If your stand up chat updates in slack are on auto pilot the process is working. If it's not, there should be something to discuss in retro. Use it as a signal, not the signal.

It depends how much you value your time outside of your 40. I value it at time and a half. If you want me to work those hours at time and a half or you want me to sit by a phone both is fine but that's how much it costs. More than happ

I agree and if I thought I got any value out of communicating extra to them I would. Fact is, this is open source, I'm doing this for fun. I'm not here for you and I don't owe you understanding or complete information.

Didn't Orkut actually have a good organic following in Brazil before they axed it for G+? So much stupid.

I just don't really run into these problems anymore or at least the feedback I get would be mostly useless affirmations. Once upon a time coffee breaks and after work drinks was the most common time these discussions took place.

Java got type inference? I need to see this! Is it still really verbose with lots of too small classes? Edit https://www.javatpoint.com/java-8-type-inference Wow that's pretty cool. More? Less? Interesting is just how

WordPress is great, they maintain backwards compat forever. Same reason I like PHP and can't stand working with NPM. I'm sure the other CMS are fine but I want my site to auto update itself and all its plugins for the next 20 year

You need to make sure disk writes are against mounted volumes and not against the CoW filesystem in the container but that's a docker thing not a WordPress thing.
