   You do own your own phone right? Owning a server on the cloud is no different. There will be a future shortly where everyone keeps their data on their own servers instead of handing out to all these corporations.

   Well, mattermost is not entirely open source. Last I checked their LDAP feature was enterprise only and we went with Rocket.Chat which had all features open source.

    I never get the logic of how whole heartedly opensource projects embrace a completely closed source software. I get it that not everything can be open source but there are already good open source alternatives for hosting.

    Since you give the example of GitHub... Sandstorm itself doesn't use their own Gitlab app to host and collaborate. How can they convince others? Doesn't make me confident of their platform. Centralized platforms like GitHub exist

    The amount of editorial in this post is mind blowing. Am I the only one who found it extremely hard (yes, extremely) to sift through all the blurb of text. In the end, I am not even sure what is being released.
