Seems way too high friction. In my head I was questioning even requiring users to register w/ email addresses.

In this particular case my child is fairly high functioning and not non-verbal, so I wasn't aware of this particular need. We do use some small pictoral cards with him to help prepare him for transitions, but it's literally like laminated

Totally get it. I'm very happy for him, and I'm fully aware of why I only made $190 :) As the parent of an autistic child, I'm really happy that app authors like this can disrupt entrenched and overpriced industries and make tech like this

Reminds me, I should write my own story of how I made $190 on the App Store while exercising 15 years of coding experience.

Holding out hope here... but this whole ball started rolling with one tweet like 14 hours ago. I haven't seen a single source confirm anything yet. Any chance the net is getting punk'd right now?

Right. And all of their billions of dollars of assets will blow away like dust in the wind I suppose?

I read through the whole thing and honestly couldn't tell if it was being sarcastic or not. Just the name Explorer alone is all wrong... most users don't want to explore, they want to find. Maybe they should call it a Finder instead. Oh, wa

The look of pride on Jobs' face when he first unveiled the Macintosh will be forever burned into my mind as a testament to the satisfaction that comes from the act of creation. RIP to a visionary and auteur.

You think LD is going to affect the public's perception of Flash more than say Farmville et al? What?

Sorry, has check-in been "won" by Foursquare now that Gowalla and Facebook have bowed out, or is it actually the case that check-in is just dead ?

No one got that this dude was talking about modems. But then, I have to wonder if the Diaspora folks did it intentionally... they seem, how shall we say, "postmodem"?

I had a stretch of about 36 hours without any activity in my stream. A single friend is responsible for about 90% of the activity in my stream. So yeah, "visitors" might be a good word to describe the traffic, because "active users" sure is

Pretty impressive sales, especially considering the product page's buy button is below the fold! Seems like a very questionable design from a conversion standpoint.

It's ironic, or whatever the word that we mean to say when we incorrectly say "ironic", that GroupOn started off as a "change the world" kind of thing (ThePoint) and then pivoted into "just" a trivial deals site. Also that it's a product of

Sounds like it's about a 10x revenue buyout. Seems right on the money.

You are massively underestimating. Zynga did $500M revenue in 2010 and PopCap did $100M.

Wow. This article knows me better than I know myself. I've always wondered if that slow creep-in of boredom was a personal failing of mine. Whether it is or not, it's at least nice to know that this a known phenomenon, that someone else has

Really impressed by your ability to weather this storm. Definitely going to take a closer look at the service and see if it's useful to me (I'm a kind of 'write-only' Instapaper user... could Pinboard help improve my read rate at all?)

That's not a Heisenbug. That's just a classic newbie mistake. If it's made by a non-newbie, then I highly question their competence.

I'm glad they were doing it for the lulz. Some day someone's going to be doing it, not for the lulz, and the price we'll have to pay for this kind of massive developer/it-sec incompetence will be extremely high. Hopefully this has served as
