As long as we compete in a global economy, I can assure you there are foreigners who will work twice as hard for less. They will not have a problem filling the positions

Good news! I hope other companies (including mine) open up soon. Two people living in a 1-bedroom apt whose living room is an office, dining area, gym, and living room is cramped.

As the guy who has to deal with your code years later when the company is bigger...please think about the complexity, especially if it is a simple problem. Or not - that’s why I have a job

Twitter, while poorly run at the moment, is one of the best platforms on the web for spreading information. I hope it never dies

Is shiv better than pyinstaller? When turned my script into a binary with this, it took 10 seconds extra on every execution just to start running the script (Eg to just print the help message). I found that to be unbearable since this was a

Yes, yes, and yes... this is happening in California already. As a future parent of Asian kids, I’m preparing to have to spend through the nose on private education.

Parents already get tons of money via tax breaks us childless folk don’t get...

That is my personal number. I’m not there yet, but after calculating when I want to buy a home in my area (at least three bedroom) and when I would have to pay for my future kids’ private undergrad /grad educations while maintaining a

Sometimes common sense lets us take shortcuts without having to wait for or spend on the science.

Hahaha, I’ve known this to be true. All those articles that kept spouting the $75k threshold nonsense over the years... I just internally chuckled at. It’s just some make-yourself-feel-better fluff. That number for me is about half a millio

Yep I met my partner and 90% of my current (now long term) friends group at work. And that also makes the work fun for whatever reason and makes me more productive. I have no idea how people are finding friends right now. WFH at best will b

We are taught the important bits of a lot of this in the regular coursework since it is fundamental to the field. I think these lists are for the people who might enjoy walking through the development of the field for their own pleasure and

Yeah this is why it has been hard for me to pull the trigger and actually commit to wireless headphones. Except for the wire part, these are great! Removing that little wire apparently makes this a difficult engineering challenge.

Wireless noise-cancelling over-ear headphones are not a solved problem byfar. Every produce out there has some flaws.

Same. Only reason I even look at OSX is because of the terminal/BASH and how easy that makes programming-related work. For everything else, I think windows is way better.

Young people are extremely agile. When I was in my 20s, I could decide to move today, and by out of my apartment and into the new one by Saturday. Except for my queen mattress, I could probably still do that. Same will probably happen upon
