Why? Our "poor" have televisions, air conditioning, cars, and homes. There's so much food in America that obesity is a major health issue. This is a profound success and departure from the normal human condition of misery. Please put do

Yeah but you obviously have a doctorate and commensurate experience to get hired. With respect to local hiring, I'm sure making less than what you'd earn in Seattle or San Jose is ok, but it isn't the high life that the OP was talking abou

The Texas plant was fined by federal regulators in 2006. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/04/18/fertili... A better question is why local zoning failed to keep the plant away from homes, and why their insurance company wasn'

Problem is that my business is in VA, and I'm now subject to complying with taxing authorities in, say, California, where I don't have representation or a physical presence. It is unconstitutional in principle.

Why do you assume the regulated entity will be better? Private carriers UPS and FedEx deliver to the doorstep of my farm, whereas the "universal service" US Postal Service won't come near us and requires we have a PO Box in town.

Nope, the medallion systems exist to block new competition. Sure there are some regulations that seem to favor consumers-- such as price controls-- but these are a short-term benefit, and at the cost of reduced innovation. Far better to a
