I configured my router to redirect all outbound port 53 udp traffic to adguard home running on a raspberry pi. From the log, it seems to be working reasonably enough, especially for apps that do their own dns resolution like the netflix app

Whelp, at least sitting in traffic will produce less pollution in an ev than in a regular combustion engine car.

A faster moving small quake (p-wave) will precede the bigger, more damaging quake. This system detects the p-wave and alert people hoping they can get out in time before the big quake hit.

From the coverage area map, it seems japan and indonesia (two countries with lots of earthquakes) aren't covered by this service. I wonder why.

I never noticed the outage because my isp hijack all outbound udp traffic to port 53 and redirect them to their own dns server so they can apply government-mandated cencorship :)

> Being able to write/test code locally on a Mac and then deploy to super computers would make a good developer experience. Does this means you can use MLX on linux now? Edit: Just tested it and it's working but only python 3.1

This is great! It would be great if the local llm have access to local tools you can enable/disable as needed (e.g. via customizable profiles). Simple tools such as fetch url, file access, messaging, calendar, etc would be very useful,

Should we teach our kids to outsource their thinking to those genai services where the big clouds control the gate? It would be less of an issue if local genai with comparable capability is more accessible to general public.

Imagine a future where a program source code is a bunch of .md files, the build script is telling some ai agents to execute the plan in the .md files, and creating a new version is done by re-doing the same steps but with newer and smarter

Perhaps cost reason? Unlike Google, Apple mostly rent their servers from the big cloud providers. Rolling this out to all Apple devices must be very expensive.

The battery will eventually degrade, so how about using a portable power station with replaceable 18650 cells? Essentially a powerbank with replaceable 18650 cells. They're a bit bulky but you can replace the degraded cells as needed.

Epanet is used to stimulate water flow and pressure loss (head loss) in a pipe network so you can design a pipe network that meets your water flow and pressure requirements. It probably can be used in a city game if that game has water dist

Like others said, it depends on your theme. Here is what it looks like on my old thinkpad running gnome 48 with light mode theme: https://i.imgur.com/HLZ120w.png It's actually not bad imo.

You can slowly quit alcohol and tobacco addiction with your own willpower alone, but not opioid addiction. Imagine if it were an saas where signing up for a subscription is super easy but quitting on your own is almost impossible, of course

Just read the wiki entry man, it lists plenty of evidence that Israel did it. It's just Israel and SA wouldn't confirm it officially.

The pipes network is very long so small leaks will always happen somewhere due to accidents or wear and tear. These small leaks are enough to contaminate the downstream pipes if the water pressure drops and dirty water get in.

My only concern is logging. Will the webserver on your local server log the real ip address of your visitors, or will it log all traffics as coming from your vps?

If be surprised if Zed aren't dogfooding their own AI agents to help writing some of the Zed code. The AI often put a lot of comments on the generated code, and sometimes needs a lot of comments to produce the right code.
