Yeah, that's why I only somewhat included it. It's tougher to follow specific people. But it is possible if you keep a list yourself of interesting accounts and check in later on what they've posted. But the dynamic is defini

Yes, so that's why I somewhat included it. But, it's definitely on the lighter side of social I think. On HN, it's a lot tougher to follow specific people, though it's cool to see posts and then follow up with what they&

Although it's impossible to put the genie back in the bottle, social media has had a net negative effect on a LOT of people. There's people that have had a big positive effect to. So, it's not obvious where it ends up on net

RedisConf is online this year and is running right now. There's videos via youtube and live talks scheduled over the next couple days. And they have an interesting in-browser conference space where you have an avatar and can move aroun

I use it for caching, temporary content, pubsub, and distributed locking. It's been particularly useful in load balancers / proxies for authorization, managing csrf, and tracking session activity to auto-log out users. I do this w

Oh neat. I'm not familiar with the ML/AI ecosystem. So, I didn't think to look there for formats; a bit of a shame I reinvented the wheel here, but it worked great for my specific use case. Yeah, it's all about the trade

My languages were C, Python, and Lua. Lua supports this, but C and Python don't (at least not in the library generated by protoc at the time I did this project, ie. like 2 years ago).

Yes, and that's what I did. In my case, I was writing to a file. And my languages were C, Python, and Lua. So, I wrote a small package (plus bindings for Python and Lua) that would write out the message length as a uint64, then a uint8

Protobuf requires schemas, which is good practice anyways but maybe you don't have or want to do for some reason. FlatBuffers doesn't have as many client libraries. There's a MessagePack library for a ton of languages. One

If you're trading options, you are not an average retail investor. Discussing puts isn't relevant for GP's situation.

We should be free to be "wrong". All advancement of knowledge stops when the prevailing truth of the elite is unquestionable.

EFF's word is not god. I like them, but you make it sound like it's a settled debate. I'm here to say there's another side and present that viewpoint. As you many imagine, I agree with Sen. Cruz's line of question f

Everyone here is saying 1A doesn't constrain private parties. But that's missing the heart of PragerU's claim. Section 230 gives internet platforms immunity for what users post. But at the same time, platforms want to moderat

Looks like this does not include certifi [0] and loads system certificates by default. This is a breath of fresh air to see, because so many packages want to use their own certs and have a custom system to override it to use system certs. E

That's a great explanation. One other thing that contributes to the equilibrium I think we haven't mentioned here is migration. You mention that as the number of accommodations increase, the price of existing residences is shifted

One thing I don't understand is the "their real estate values will tank 80-90%" part. I live in a transforming rural area and one-by-one all the farmers have been selling their land to developers to make planned neighborhoods

I agree with your point; there’s a lot of stuff taught in school that has limited or no usefulness to the average person. But swimming is not one of those. Everyone needs to know how to swim. Granted, college is a bit late to do it. There’s
