Not sure I agree that it simulates being good at something. To make that point, you would have to agree on what a simulation is. Is it a non-physical game, so chess would be included, or would it be any game, which would mean football etc.

I can just imagine; try contributor once, get drowned in invasive ads because you've already shown you're willing to pay for less ads.

Not sure I understand the point of this. Is it to lessen loads from the distributing servers or the actual broadcaster? I can't see how this would help a broadcaster at least.

That's an idea I've had for a long time actually, but never made anything of it. Running ads server-side, maybe especially that the server can preload ads so there is no overhead for the actual users in loading the ad. That seems

My worst memories of starting out with programming is doing a git merge or pull, then before the command was done, I'd start typing git push or... and then I got stuck in insert mode. This was after I had learned that :q och :wq! did t

Have you looked into Discord? Not sure about their Linux availability, but it can do all of the above, also voice channels. They don't have video/screen share right now but it's apparently something they're working on. I

But what would the day-to-day applications of this be? I mean, if you really needed a photo of a side of a house that is now torn down, or if you needed "virtual" access to an unmapped/photographed area, then sure. But the ar

Just tried it out for a while right now. It seems to work reasonably well actually, but adding multiple books seems like a chore. Fictfact, as stated below seems to be better in this regard, and it appears you can also subsribe to authors&#

Actually, I had no idea this site even existed, but yeah I guess I do. It seems to do what I want it to, and I'll probably use it actually. I still think I could improve on the interface and make it more to my taste though, so I'l

I'm using the google books api, then indexing my results in a database for referencing etc. It's working pretty well so far.

I'm an avid reader, and I can say that Kindle, Goodreads, Google Books all fill the use case of finding new books to read, but is very lacking in the tracking department. I've had some small plans of making an app/site that j

Yup. All it takes is that someone starts the ball rolling making a serious effort, then everyone will follow suit and we might see a new "space age".

It's not real-time sync afaik, at least not when I used it in 2016, might have changed since though. You'd have to manually grab files you wanted to open/change and then manually update.

I think it says a lot that the only top 5 in the "Loved" tab that's also present on the whole "Wanted" tab is Swift. Not that I use Swift, but it's the one with a mainstream use case today pretty much. It will

Couldn't you just extend the React.Component class with whatever you need, and then use that instead of the base react class? Or am I misunderstanding what react is?

I mean, in a way it is. You're advocating for readability, yet use a color that many find directly hurts it. You use arbitrary icons and moving imagery, images that are impossible to scale up (and read). It's no surprise that peop

They could go the desktop CPU route, although that's likely not an option for Apple since that would require them to either use extreme throttling or beef up the cooling (meaning louder fans and probably a thicker case)

To be fair, the Zune was Steve Ballmers baby, I'm convinced Satya Nadella (I thought it was a woman for the first year or so) would make a better product in that regard.

Yes, but we're not talking about that here. We're talking about the interconnectivity of the ancient world. That's something completely different.

I always get disappointed with articles about AI like this, the headline is sensationalised while the actual content is nothing like it. Sure, it might technically be a true headline, but what actually happened isn't the first thing yo
