Good luck! Have you decided what you want to work on yet? Look me up if you want someone to bounce ideas off of, maybe we can hack something together. I've got an invitation to Sparkmuse (about to enter beta) for you if you would like to di

Sometimes I wonder why big corporations can even exist competitively as there is such downward pressure on productivity as they grow. Some companies handle this better than others, Amazon being one that comes to mind first, but everyone ul

I keep a Roth at max contribution. It is my preferred retirement vehicle as you can withdrawal your contributions without penalty. I'm still young and naive enough to believe that I won't actually need to have a retirement plan because I'

I've never seen this problem better solved in a web framework than in some combination of libraries. I'm sure it can be done and I welcome people who want to do it, all I'm saying is that I couldn't justify the ROI on it myself. On our pro

They mention the product lifecycle being short as a primary reason for not wanting to bring on new employees. If it takes someone 12 months to get up to speed in an 18 month product lifecycle, it is too costly. I've got to wonder what kind

Rewriting a web framework from the ground up is so often a trap made alluring by the illusion of repeated code. Could there be a more optimal way of writing UI code? Of course. But a lot of UI code should just be treated for what it is:

You know, sometimes I wish I could find a good non-technical cofounder. That is probably heresy on HN, but I don't want to do marketing, sales, or write lots of blog posts. I want to do development, design, and product. I haven't even go

This is a very sad day for objective journalism. My family is from Iran and I've spent plenty of time watching it over satellite. I liken them to CNN in the 90s before they too started getting politically charged. I'm angry that Al Jazeer

Scala is fully supported in their latest release and I haven't run into any quirkiness. To me it feels much more natural than using Lift but that is mostly because there aren't 4 different ways to do the same thing.
