So what is it that RubyGems does differently than other languages that makes it so hard to support? Having a binary debian package for each ruby distro makes sense (as an alternative to rvm), but I'm not really sure why gem is a hindrance.

Mod Tracker + SimCity, even I of no musical talent was able to make something amusing with it. Neat.

It does have its flaws. If I remember correctly, Huxley rather regretted his portrayal of the enlightened savage raised on Shakespeare, but overall it's a great premise.

I think it's a neat idea at the very least. I'd love to see what comes of it.

I kept wanting to pull out a red pen while reading the article. Ack, I'm not even that obsessive about grammar.

Just a quick note, this guy did the art for my absolute favorite game of all time, Tyrian. Definitely worth some play on dosbox at the least ;)

I agree. I'm not downloading a random app that doesn't give me any sense of what it does, or is for. It's easy and respectful to your prospective users to at least include a screenshot and maybe a paragraph describing an app.

That's a pretty neat roguelike. It might be nice to make it more mouse friendly. I picked up a bracer, and assumed I would be abel to click on it to equip it.

I'd say lua is great, well good, it's just that it's entirely reasonable, which makes it kind of boring ;) It as been the least surprising language I've used.

js-model has some nice support for serializing to local storage and so forth baked in, which I've found to be really handy. Backbone looks like it forms a much more cohesive package though, which is nice.

What actually makes it an HTML5 Library vs just another framework? I saw there are some libraries included for websockets, anything else?

I just noticed that they support wacom tablets. That's huge. Personally any illustration/painting I do really benefits from pressure sensitivity. Has anyone tried this with a pressure sensitive tablet yet? Any thoughts?

At 4k, it's not exactly huge. It is full of ruby that isn't exactly obvious at once, which I actually think is kind of enlightening.

They show two different client side storage mechanisms. WebDB and IndexedDB. The web one is SQLite, it exists right now on most of the modern browsers. IndexedDB is what they're planning on implementing, if you read the article, it's ess

I've seen it implemented as a binary, so VIM can call it (I think someone wrote a plugin already). There's a version for textmate that works quite well.

If you install your gems without rdoc on, you can just use open_gem ( http://github.com/adamsanderson/open_gem ) to build the rdocs on the fly with `gem read <gemname>`
