No, strictly. EG, the ECB recently "loaned" EU member states quite a lot of euros. They do this every year, with the amount determined by public deficits. The amount is not determined by the amount of savings in ECB savings accoun

In college, I studied Ronald Coase's famous 1920s papers. The major application ATT was infrastructure stuff. Coase's argument was that "given 0 transaction costs," it doesn't matter who owns what property or right.

Sure. That wasn't a criticism of crypto. Whether one of those properties is "freedom from regulation" is yet to be seen. I personally quite doubt it.

Who's point? The whole point of Google, to some people at Google, might have been " don't be evil " at one point in time. Decentralisation was the whole point of the WWW. Different people have different goals. Largely, i

I agree with most of this, but I suggest a 2nd look at the concept of free market. Free from what? Geographic locality? It's notable that Adam Smith's free market seems to have been free also of monopolies and cartels. In any case

The difference is the expected reaction, probabilities, etc. An attack on US forces in Saudi Arabia today would still be treated severely, but not the same as an attack on Virginia. FDR had to decide how to characterize it. He decided to tr

Also, the Japanese didn't really know they were attacking the US soil, so to speak. Hawaii was, ATT, legally similar to the Philippines. Considering Hawaii american soil and the Philippines something else was a retcon.

I guess criticising journalism is hack at this point, but these little examples still flabbergast me. It's a long article, but it's mostly an article about the person. Almost no information about the actual issue at hand. Where is

I see. So this statute requires a contract clause. Are there other such statutes, requiring certain clauses as boilerplate?

It's increasingly hard to tell one from the other. The mechanism here appears to be (the article itself is light on facts) a contract, same as would be with a private entity. The entity on the other end of the contract could be private
