Yes, Google stores this preference in Cookies (which is wierd). So if your browser clears cookies on exit, 'instant' is again enabled by default.

You can block *.facebook.com in adblock plus. Then you can allow ads on facebook.com. So on facebook, you won't be blocking Facebook.com. But on other sites, facebook would be blocked.

You are right. bitly did tracking and analytics. But Twitter can have even more information by forcing all users to use t.co. The point of the article is that Twitter can force every one to use t.co on its platform and thus provide better

There should be ratings system in Mechanical Turk based on sincerity of answers. You should be able to pay more to get people with better ratings. Another option is to get reviewed by thousands of people through Hackernews, Reddit, Facebook

That article title seems like link-bait. The title declares "phone numbers are dead". The article says "my grandkids will never dial a phone number".

The official twitter of hacker news is http://twitter.com/hackernews . The hacker news Twitter automatically tweets out top stories. That guy must have assumed the 'Tumblr sucks' tweet to be a official Y Combinator tweet without even click
