Age old debate. Either create something new (that no one understands or wants), or rebuild something existing but better (and has a market). One is a lot more fun (the former). One is a lot more lucrative (the latter). I'd be willing to wag

Great point. That's usually how you to tell when a technology is starting to disrupt things. Really smart people / experts in their field (which Diego definitely is) start to bash it. In this case, he has a point but has way overblown thing

Agreed. I've been using it almost daily for 2 years. It was not an instant learning curve (what DB is?), but it's an absolute joy to develop for. People who would rather not bother, can stick with their tools, work slower, and be happy.

+1. Pretty annoying having to bounce around between accounts. But not that bad, can live with it for a little while longer! Great update today

Can someone with knowledge of both this and rails 3.1 explain the difference. Seems very similar.

That's the point. It's actually easier to use MongoDB than to store JSON in a text file. And things move faster, and you still have the dream that you can scale it up (even if 99% of the time it doesnt happen).

I don't think there's ever been a patent lawsuit where I didn't root for the person being sued. If someone sued North Korea for patent infringement, I'd root for North Korea to win. It's a joke of a system, unfortunately too much money is b

Silly me. And I thought satire was supposed to be edgy and humorous in an uncomfortable way. Jonathan Swift ( http://art-bin.com/art/omodest.html ) is crap in comparison to this work of masterpiece (AKA "why I love my job").

Sublime Text 2 won out, just barely. I had the same experience, but after 6mo of fulltime use of ST2, I'm a diehard fan. It still needs to be improved in a lot of areas (project wide find/replace is not optimal), but I have confidence the d

Stupid question maybe, but has coffeescript support been talked about at all? I've had issues with ember and coffeescript before because of some of the choices they've made on how to declare models.

I've used Sparrow every day for over a year. It's got a great UI and I love it, but it's buggy as hell. Slow, sometimes doesn't refresh, the DB grows to 10s of GBs. As much as I like it, the fact that there's not going to be any more update

I made a SuperDuper backup of my entire drive before upgrading to Mountain Lion. 3 days after installing I used it to restore Lion. Mtn Lion added nothing I care about, and made several things break (terminal tabs started taking 5seconds to

Also worth noting that even the newest Core 2 Duo's (not that old!) are left out of Mountain Lion's best feature: AirPlay.

Simple: I'd stop paying for dropbox. And not only if they did this to me, but if I found out from a reliable source that they were doing this to anyone. I figure that's a good enough incentive for them to not try to monitor their files. But

Painting way too broad a brush stroke. Just because an idiotic corporation has no idea how to administer their cloud products doesn't mean they are all bad. I've been using dropbox for years and I've never heard of anyone anywhere having th

But, but it's actually crazy that they don't. Companies buy startups just for these types of people and pay up front for them (with no solid guarantee that they'll get their money's worth). Hire someone who you think is a kickass dev for 20

Since you are framing in the login with webkit, why not show the URL as well? User's need to see htts://google.com or they'll assume it's a phishing attack.

I can confirm it's still busted. After a year of Lion I've learned never to bother with the full screen button (that's a feature for noobs anyways right?) Though what really pisses me off about Mountain Lion multiple monitor is they removed

This feels like cargo culting. You're copying Sparrow's icon that exists for an app people use every day. I think you're also associating the icon with the app polish itself. Stick with the old icon. It's much better for an app that is neve

Save it for econ class. A company's goal is to build a sustainable profit generating engine. To allow this, it needs to play a constructive part in the marketplace and community.
